Are there any legal considerations when trading?
Fairness. This site will always be free to use. In the future, optional paid memberships may be made available for those who wish to support Farmerhood Market.
Privacy. We will never sell your data. This site was created to be a societal good, not a way to extract capital from our users.
Integrity. Although small ads may be placed on listing pages to support the site, advertising will never be prominent. In the future, we would prefer to allow vetted small businesses to sponsor Farmerhood Market in a tasteful way.
Be lawful. Any person attempting to trade prohibited items (including illegal, harmful, or hazardous goods) will be banned and reported to law enforcement.
Be honest. Do not misrepresent the qualities of the items you are offering for trade or engage in fraudulent activity.
Be polite. Strive to be polite and kind in all interactions. Harassment or abuse of other members will result in account termination. Please remember that we are all working together.
Income tax. According to the IRS, bartered goods are subject to income tax. Please visit irs.gov/taxtopics/tc420 and plan accordingly.
Sales tax. Generally, there is not sales tax on food or items you already purchased and paid sales tax on. Please familiarize yourself with your local and state laws.
Prohibited items. These include but are not limited to: items that are illegal, restricted, dangerous, protected, or outside the intended scope of this site.
